ARTIST SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
FOR GALLERY REPRESENTATION WITH MONÉ
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We are excited to invite artists to submit their artworks for consideration at Moné. Please review the guidelines below carefully to ensure a successful application process. Adhering to these guidelines will help increase your chances of being accepted for representation.
ORIGINAL ART ONLY
We exclusively accept original works of fine art, including paintings, photography, sculptures, and limited edition prints.
We do not accept reproductions or copies of other artists’ work.
Non-limited edition prints will not be accepted.
We strictly prohibit submissions that violate copyright, contain inappropriate or offensive content, or are mass-produced.
Craft items are also not accepted.
If you are a painter applying with limited edition prints, they must be accompanied by the original artworks for sale, along with documentation specifying the edition number and total edition size is required. For photographers, limited edition prints are acceptable for submission.
CONSISTENT ARTISTIC VOICE AND QUALITY
Ensure your application showcases only your strongest pieces. Submissions should reflect a high level of technique and quality production. When submitting your application, ensure that the artworks presented demonstrate cohesion in terms of theme, style, and artistic vision. A portfolio that reflects consistency not only showcases your skill but also gives us and buyers a clear understanding of your unique voice as an artist.
Avoid including weaker pieces that might detract from the overall strength of your portfolio.
Ensure that the artworks you submit represent your best work and are aligned with the artistic direction you are pursuing.
PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR ARTWORK
High-quality images of your artwork are critical for a successful application. Please ensure that your submissions follow these guidelines.
We highly recommend using a DSLR camera.
Images must be clear, well-lit, colour corrected, and properly focussed.
Photograph the artwork front-on, with no distortion, watermarks, or background distractions. (no frames or mounts unless essential to the artwork).
Avoid low-resolution images or those with glare or shadows.
GALLERY-STANDARD MATERIALS
ORIGINAL ARTWORKS
We require all original artworks to be created using professional, gallery-standard materials. This ensures the quality, durability, longevity, and professional appearance of your work for collectors.
Accepted materials include:
Professional-grade paints: Acrylic, oil, or watercolour from reputable brands (e.g., Golden, Winsor & Newton, Liquitex, etc.). Please note that student-grade or craft paints (e.g., Level 1 paints) are not accepted.
High-quality surfaces: Professional-grade stretched and primed canvas, archival-grade paper, wood panels, or other long-lasting surfaces are required.
Varnishes and finishes: A protective varnish is required to preserve the longevity of your artwork, unless the medium specifically does not require it.
LIMITED EDITION PRINTS
For all photographic and limited edition prints, only high-quality, archival surfaces and professional-grade inks are acceptable. This ensures the longevity and preservation of your prints, maintaining gallery-standard quality.
Archival Paper: Acceptable options include fine art Giclée prints using papers such as Hahnemühle Photo Rag, Canson Infinity, or similar. These papers must be acid-free to ensure durability and colour preservation over time.
Print Surfaces: Cotton rag and Baryta paper are preferred for fine art prints due to their texture and archival qualities.
Inks: Only pigmented inks are accepted, as they offer greater resistance to fading. Dye-based inks are not permitted.
When submitting your application, please specify the paper or print surface used, as well as the type of inks utilized.
Any artworks with substandard craft materials will not be accepted.
ARTIST BIO AND ARTIST STATEMENT
Your Artist Bio and Artist Statement are essential parts of your submission and help to tell your story to potential buyers and the gallery. Both of these elements provide insight into who you are as an artist, your creative journey, and the meaning behind your work.
ARTIST BIO:
The bio offers a professional summary of your artistic career, including:
Your background and inspiration
How long you’ve been an artist
Notable achievements such as exhibitions, awards, collections, and any formal education or training
Your creative process and what drives your work
Professional experience that has shaped your career and growth
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Your statement goes beyond the bio to focus on the why and how of your art. It should convey:
The personal motivation and vision behind your work
The themes and ideas you explore in your pieces
How your style or approach has evolved over time
The emotional or intellectual impact you hope your art will have on viewers
Both the bio and statement work together to help potential buyers connect with your art and understand the story behind it. Take the time to share your unique perspective and journey.

COMMON REASONS FOR UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS
Misalignment with Our Audience: While your work may be of high quality, it may not resonate with our customer base.
Unverified Identity: Submissions will not be accepted if the artist’s identity and address cannot be verified. If your work is selected by our curatorial team, you will be required to complete the verification process. Failure to provide verified details and proof of address will result in the submission being declined.
Limited Online Presence or Experience: Ensure your application includes active links to your website and social media showcasing your work.
Inconsistent Portfolio: A portfolio that lacks a cohesive style, medium, or artistic voice may be rejected.
Trendy Design Artworks: We prioritize original, long-lasting art over design-focused trends.
Pricing Discrepancies: Your artwork pricing must be consistent across all platforms. We do not accept significant pricing differences between your website, other platforms, and our gallery. We do not accept pricing below $1000 for original works or $300 for limited edition prints. Pricing should reflect the quality, size, and medium of your work while aligning with market expectations and your experience.
Poor Photography: Low-quality images can diminish the presentation of your artwork.
Use of Low-Quality Materials: We only accept artwork created with professional, gallery-standard materials.
Copyright Infringement: Only original artworks are accepted. Reproduced images without permission will not be considered.
Incomplete Artist Bio or Statement: Applications lacking a complete bio or artist statement will not be reviewed.
Age Restrictions: Applicants must be 18 years or older.
Important Note: Artists may only apply once every 6 months.
